As part of the GET H2 Nukleus project and initiative, RWE Generation SE is investigating the business field of water electrolysis for the production of hydrogen (H2) at the Lingen power plant site. The goal is to create the first publicly accessible hydrogen infrastructure stretching from Lingen to Gelsenkirchen with a total length of 130 km. This will connect the production of green hydrogen in Lingen with industrial customers in Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia.

As an in-house consultant, RWE TI is supporting the customer in this forward-looking project.

As part of the Get H2 Nukleus initiative, RWE TI prepared technical concepts for the design, construction and operation of electrolysers at the Lingen gas-fired power plant site during the project development phase.  This initially included a market inquiry via non-binding offers from manufacturers through to the market inquiry launched last year for binding offers . This phase was followed by the extended line spectrum: The evaluation process, the technical and commercial contract negotiations up to the award recommendation.

Parallel to the technical issues, the RWE TI team with Project Manager Henning Joswig and Engineering Manager Sebastian Heuer supported RWE Generation in the application process for EU funding from the EU Innovation Fund. For this purpose, a feasibility study was prepared and a technical risk analysis carried out, which had to be attached to the application as mandatory documents.  
At the end of the project, RWE Generation will be presented with a sound technical and commercial basis for an investment decision.
