I was lucky to step into a brand new office with amazing view when I started as a RWEST commercial graduate in Singapore. The office is relatively small comparing with other offices of RWE but is full of opportunities and amazing people as the rest. It has been three months since I started my first rotation and still I learn new things every day. Before I join the programme, I had no experience in energy trading so I was a bit worried about how to catch up and walk into the industry. However, people in the company are always willing to share their knowledge and expertise to support and help me, wherever they are. Being in Singapore office, I have great guidance inside my team and we communicate a lot with people from Swindon, Essen and Beijing. It is common in this company that people are connected cross teams and regions which makes it easier to get any information or advice you need.
Great opportunity – joining the induction week in Essen
It was really nice that the company fly us to Essen to join the induction week with the rest of graduates recruited in Europe. It was a fruitful and intensive induction as well as a great time for friendship and network. We had very practical and interactive training of industrial knowledge, soft skills and Tableau while building up our connections. Moreover, as guests from Singapore, we had opportunities to meet and talk with people from different departments and desks to get to know about the company structure and functionalities of each team.
More benefits for Graduates
Another great benefit of being a commercial graduate is the opportunities to rotate in different locations. Although I am based in Singapore, I have the same opportunities as graduates in Europe to rotate in Singapore, Essen, Swindon or London. There are many teams that welcome graduates and it is really exciting for us to go out of Singapore and gain experience in Europe.
