Energy storage projects and locations

Iron Horse

Iron Horse is a combined energy storage (10MW / 2.5MWh) and solar (2.4MW) photovoltaic project located in Tucson, Arizona. E.ON Climate and Renewables as RWE Clean Energys predecessor was selected by the utility Tucson Electric Power (TEP) to develop, procure, finance, construct, own and maintain the combined system. In return, TEP will purchase the energy and capacity from the project and dispatch the battery based on its system needs.

Texas Waves – Inadale

Inadale Energy Storage (9.9MW / 5.0 MWh) system is co–located at the Inadale Wind Farm near Roscoe, Texas. RWE owns the project in addition to providing the development, financing, operations and maintenance. System Dispatching and Energy Management are provided by RWE on a daily basis. The project participates in the ERCOT day-ahead ancillary service market.

Texas Waves – Pyron

Pyron Energy Storage (9.9MW / 5.0 MWh) system is co–located at the Pyron Wind Farm near Sweetwater, Texas. RWE owns the project in addition to providing the development, financing, operations and maintenance. System Dispatching and Energy Management are provided by RWE on a daily basis. The project participates in the ERCOT day-ahead ancillary service market.

Texas Waves II - Pyron

The Texas Waves II Energy Storage (30MW / 30 MWh) system, currently under construction, is co-located at the Pyron Wind Farm in Scurry County, Texas. Owned and managed by RWE, the project is part of the company's expansion in the energy storage market, supported by the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act. The system will provide grid stability, participate in the ERCOT energy market, and potentially reduce electricity costs by storing energy from renewable resources for use during high-demand periods.
