As previously announced, there will be a change in management at RWE Generation as of next Sunday: Roger Miesen will end his successful career on 31 March and enter into retirement. His successor as CEO of RWE Generation is Nikolaus Valerius, who will take up the position on 1 April.

Markus Krebber, CEO of RWE AG: “After 15 years of successful work at RWE, Roger will start a new life phase on Sunday. He has long expressed his wish to move into well-deserved retirement. RWE has a lot to thank him for. Over the years, Roger has put his all into managing our gas, hard coal/biomass and hydropower plants at RWE, was responsible for the Nuclear Energy division and took over as CEO of RWE Generation in 2018. In recent years, he has consistently prepared RWE Generation’s flexible international power plant portfolio to gradually become climate-neutral. Roger has fulfilled each of his roles with enormous passion. I very much enjoyed working with him.

Nikolaus Valerius will now follow in Miesen’s successful footsteps. Valerius has the exciting task of driving forward the new technologies at RWE Generation in particular, i.e. hydrogen-ready gas-fired power plants, the production of green hydrogen and battery storage. I am very pleased that he is taking over the management of RWE Generation as another proven expert with excellent knowledge of the energy industry.”

Valerius has held a number of positions at RWE since 1995. From 2017 to 2023, he was a member of the Executive Board of RWE Power, where he was responsible for the Nuclear Energy division. He has been a member of the Executive Board of RWE Generation as Chief Operating Officer (COO) since June 2023. You will find a list of his previous positions here.
